Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be the man behind the music? Last week, Strange Music interviewed “the sound of Strange Music,” Michael “Seven” Summers. Summers is responsible for much of the production behind Brotha Lynch Hung’s Coathanga Strangla, and also Tech N9ne’s latest single, “F.A.N.S.” Continue reading

Drawing from classical influences, the production heard on “I’m Not Perfect” can be soothing and foreboding all at the same time. The delicate piano that plays throughout is hardened with some dramatic and eloquent strings that are paired with gun shots flying in the background like a warzone. Lynch didn’t come alone for this one, as he brings along COS, G-Macc, and Crookwood for the lyrical bludgeoning. Continue reading

Opening the door to the Coathanga Strangla’s murderous world, “Coathanga” leads listeners in like lambs to a slaughter. Michael “Seven” Summers once again constructs a treacherous sound for Lynch’s bloodbath, complete with striking piano notes and bone chilling strings. Lynch rips into the track with quick precision rhymes, landing some of his best multisyllabic flows on the whole album. His unique delivery on the hook sets “Coathanga” apart from most of the album, as Lynch sings:
With the chainsaw, leave your brains raw
Somebody just got cut
So when I’m coming in yo window with a machete and a pistol
best believe it’s just to get me a nut
Between necrophilia and homicide, “Coathanga” makes no apologies for the raw content contained within. Click here to purchase Coathanga Strangla on iTunes.

If there’s one thing cold blooded killers don’t feel, it’s remorse. Lynch reminds us of the Coathanga Strangla’s real evil on “It Happens”. Featuring First Degree The DE and Tall Cann, “It Happens” plays out like the most perverse of children’s melodies thanks to production from Michael “Seven” Summers. The most twistedly beautiful thing about the hook is not only it’s simplicity, but the chill that runs down from hearing the maniacally distorted voice repeating, “it happens”. This certainly earns it’s place as one of Lynch’s most frightening tracks.

Don’t let the name fool you, “Friday Night” is not another typical party song. COS joins Lynch on this grotesque murder scene, executed on what would be a fun night for most people. The bleak sound created by the production from Michael “Seven” Summers layers another predatory chapter in the second act of Lynch’s trilogy. In a very animalistic moment, Lynch declares that he isn’t afraid to die and boastfully reminds the world of what he is capable of. Laying out his evil plans, Lynch strikes his victims on the hook:
That’s what happened on a Friday night
bloody prints in your bedroom, I’ma try that knife
This may not be Friday The 13th, but it’s just a bloody. Click here to purchase Coathanga Strangla on iTunes.
